Hong Kong Unrest Not Interfering with Columban Missionaries

The following is a letter from the Missionary Society of St. Columban Superior General Fr. Tim Mulroy regarding the ongoing political unrest in Hong Kong, the Society's headquarters:

Dear Friends,

Fr. Tim MulroyGreetings from Hong Kong where we are moving slowly through the monsoon season.

Thanks to extensive media coverage across the world, many of you have become aware of the political unrest that has been happening here during these past two months, and which looks set to continue for the foreseeable future.

At present, there are nine Columban missionaries living in Hong Kong. Fortunately, the political unrest has not interfered with our day-to-day lives or ministries, though we do take ordinary precautions to avoid certain places or particular events where there is the possibility of public disturbances.

Thank you for your concern for our well-being as well as your prayers for our safety. Please continue to pray not just for us, but also for the people of Hong Kong, that they will find the wisdom they need to discern the best path for the future of their city and their country.

With gratitude and warm wishes,

Fr. Tim Mulroy
Society Leader
