-Canon 946 of the Code of Canon Law

A Mass Trust is a sum of money you entrust to the Missionary Society of St. Columban for Masses to be celebrated for you after your death.

Immediately upon the notification of death, the Columban Fathers obligate themselves to arrange for these Masses to be celebrated, according to the appropriate Mass offering in the Archdiocese of Omaha (Nebraska) at the time of your death.

Conditions of a Columban Mass Trust

  • The minimum amount for a Mass Trust account is $150.
  • When a Mass Trust is established, a written agreement to have Masses celebrated will be sent to you. This agreement should be kept with your important papers with the instruction that it be returned to us with the notification of your death.
  • You also can establish a Mass Trust for a person other than yourself.

Advantages of a Columban Mass Trust

A Mass Trust provides for the immediate offering of Masses for the repose of your soul on the notification of your death. This avoids the delays encountered in the process of probating a Last Will and Testament.

Having this assurance will give you peace of mind in this important matter.

A Mass Trust does not become part of your estate, and it relieves your family or your executor from the responsibility of seeing that Masses are offered for the repose of your soul.
