Provide Financial Support for a Student in Myanmar

Despite the risks, Columban Fr. Kurt Zion Pala continues his work with students in war-torn Myanmar (formerly Burma). He is desperately seeking financial assistance for 25 students for the upcoming school year at the Student Learning Resources Center (SLRC).

In Myanmar, most organizations demand that applicants have university degrees, skills and work experience. Due to the on-going war and the educational crisis that country is facing, most young people find it difficult to secure employment. Many young people are now at a loss with what to do with their lives. Young men and women also face forced conscription into the military. Without a university degree, skills or work experience, many are unemployed or are forced to work hazardous jobs like mining while some become addicted to drugs.

SLRC MISSION

SLRC aims to be an inclusive, youth-centered and youth-led institution that provides integrated and holistic formation programs and activities for and with young adults.

For only $50 per month, you can bring hope to one young student.

Your $50 will cover the young person's student fees, book fees, uniform fees, food and lodging fees. At the SLRC, each student will learn leadership, livelihood and employment skills, including subjects like English Communication Skills, Accounting Skills, Computer Work Skills and other important life and work skills, preparing the student to be work-ready despite the very difficult political situation. Many of our former students are now employed or are pursuing additional education and training.

Help us bring hope to students in Myanmar! Any amount will help Fr. Kurt educate students at the SLRC.
