Merciful God, You gave Saint Peter Claver
a heart that refused to ignore human suffering.
Strengthen me to recognize the dignity of every person,
especially those who are mistreated, forgotten,
or denied their freedom.
Protect all who suffer injustice, and give courage
to those who work for human dignity.
Remove prejudice and indifference from my heart,
and teach me to serve every person as someone
You have created and love.
Amen.
