Heavenly Father, we remember today
the innocent children slaughtered by Herod's cruelty.
We grieve for them and for all children throughout history
who have suffered violence, abuse, and neglect.
Protect the vulnerable and defenseless in our world today.
Strengthen those who work to defend children's lives and dignity.
Give us hearts that honor every human life as precious.
May we create a world where every child is welcomed,
cherished and allowed to flourish.
Amen.
