God of peace and consolation, we remember before You
all who have died because of violence and terrorism,
especially those whose lives were taken on September 11.
Comfort families who continue to carry grief,
strengthen those who still bear wounds of body or spirit,
and protect all who serve to keep others safe.
Deliver us from hatred and vengeance,
and teach nations to pursue justice, mercy, reconciliation,
and lasting peace.
Amen.
