The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. He will not always accuse, nor will he keep his anger forever.

For God alone my soul waits in silence; from him comes my salvation. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall never be shaken.

The Lord is faithful in all his words, and gracious in all his deeds. The Lord upholds all who are falling, and raises up all who are bowed down.

Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come into his presence with singing. Know that the Lord is God. It is he that made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise.

Dear Jesus, I can easily get distracted in prayer. Things just seem to popup into my head. I lose perspective. Rather than being at rest or in conversation with you, I seem to go here and there with little pausing. Help me to slow down and get quiet to feel your calming, healing touch. Amen

Dear Jesus, Help me be aware of my tendency to be judgmental and not open to different views, attitudes, and approaches. It’s ok to have my own likes and dislikes but not to let them warp my view of reality and to diminish caring. You call to love with all our heart and soul. Help me to see as you see that I may desire to love as you love. Amen

Dear Jesus, Lent gives us the time to choose to slow down and reflect on the ways we live. Help us to discover the different kinds of selfishness and sin that keep us away from you and others. Help us to cherish your love as shown in your life, death and resurrection. Help us desire to find ways in which we can be generous and life giving to others. Amen.

When I see flowers fresh in bloom sprung to life in spring thrill after the dark night’s Winter chill, I think of the miracle of life and how nature itself is renewed. I know you can renew me in the same way, Lord. The miracle of life is within me too and the miracle of your love. Lord, put a spring in my step, that I may thrill at life again. Heal not only my body, Lord, but my mind and heart as well, then I will be able to praise you like flowers in abundance. Amen

It’s wonderful after illness to feel your strength returning to feel your old self again, to start getting on top of things. But it takes time and patience, just getting back into routine, into the swing of things can seem like a mountain to climb, a challenge too far. Lord, help me grow strong again, help me each step of the way so that taking one step at a time, with your help I will come out on top. Amen

We punish others for our lack of peace and then feel a thousand times worse. Lord, help me to smile, even clown. Help me to see the sunny side of life, to bathe in the glow of your joy, so I don’t take things out on others. I don’t want to be a glum Of course life can be hard and full of woes, but help me to see your smile in the face of a flower. Amen

Dear Jesus, At times I get caught up in my own hopes and plans. Give me the desire, will and strength to be attentive to the needs of others. In loving service, I will find my true self. Amen Amen

Oh, yes, Lord I can get proud all right, Contemptuous of others. I can seek out the limelight, And when I blow my own trumpet I like everyone to hear it. Oh, no, Lord Keep me from silly pride, From blowing my own trumpet So hard and loud That I make myself deaf To other’s needs. Let me blow your trumpet, Lord, Not my own. Amen

Lord, You work in mysterious ways. It’s not always easy To see the patterns You weave in life. Sometimes we see your plan, See your beauty, Like a web illumined By morning light, but not always. Sometimes we see things Our of focus, see them Without the light of your love. Help me, Lord, To understand your ways, And to delight in them. Amen
